A client calls and needs something ASAP. What do you do? Do you say “We can’t do that”? Or do you step up to the plate and say “We’re on it”?
As advertising professionals, we have to ask ourselves this question on a weekly basis. We live in an increasingly fast-paced world, and I think the immediate answer most agencies would give is “We can’t do that.” And that isn’t surprising. They don’t want to hurt the integrity of the work. We are nothing if not perfectionists! But I want to challenge the school of thought that great work can’t happen in a short time frame. I think that when you tell your client “Yes” you not only become a hero to that client, but you push yourself to achieve more than you thought possible. I think pressure helps us thrive. It forces us to think differently. Get out of our comfort zone. To push ourselves to new places we probably wouldn’t have gone without the unique energy and adrenaline that accompanies pressure.
So what will you say the next time the client calls? Are you up to the challenge? If so, expect both you and your client to benefit.
