One of my favorite advertising books is My Big Life In Advertising, by Mary Wells Lawrence. It is such a great look at the world of advertising. Mary was a trailblazer for women in advertising. She was one of the first women to own her own agency. She was one of the first women to be respected as a leader among the “mad men”. She once said “Of course, I’m a legend. But it’s not because of any great gift I have. It’s because I’m a risk taker.”
Ad Age announced their 25 Women to Watch this week. It is an elite group of women who are changing the world of advertising. Women from Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Walt Disney, Intel, BBDO and so many more. It was inspiring to read their articles and watch their interviews. The advertising industry is a crazy one and these women are making their way through it with grace, talent and by being risk takers. I encourage you all to check a few of them out.
