Using Social Media Influencers in Your Marketing Mix

Jay Baer, renowned business strategist and New York Times best-selling author of five books, says that “true influence drives action, not just awareness.” With this piece of knowledge, it’s no wonder that many brands and businesses are catching on by utilizing social media influencers in their marketing mix.

Social media influencers come in various forms: bloggers, brand advocates and niche promoters. One thing that they all have in common is that they are extremely active on social media and have a powerful voice within their circle of followers. It’s not all about their number of followers though; it’s that they are a trusted source of information.

Consumers trust recommendations from a third party more often than a brand itself. An influencer is like the mutual friend connecting your brand with your target audience. And because of their loyal following, the influencer can draw attention to your brand and bring people to make buying decisions.

Recently EXIT Marketing held an influencer event at Rejuvenation Clinic Day Spa to promote Mother’s Day gift card sales. Five Central Arkansas bloggers and social media influencers gathered at Rejuvenation Clinic Day Spa for a couple of hours of pampering and lunch in exchange for promoting the day spa. The goal? Increase the number of followers on the client’s social media channels. Over the 4-week promotion, Rejuvenation Clinic Day Spa’s Facebook followers increased 2%, their Instagram followers increased 11%, and their Twitter followers increased a whopping 131%.
