A Small Appreciation

You know when I look at the true benefits of being a part of a small business, I realize that I really don’t have a lot of reasons to envy the big companies. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t mind having the big client budgets and the senior-level salary that a large agency offers, but I certainly would not put those things above the benefits our small agency culture provides. Valuable extras like: shared vision, trust, honesty, loyalty and serious fun. Things that seem to be much harder to hold on to in the large agency settings.

At EXIT, every day, I get to work with people I like and respect to create exceptional work and results. Going to work makes me happy. And though that may seem like a small statement, I know it’s a big deal to be fully satisfied with your job. Visit almost any advertising blog and you’ll find plenty of industry professionals of all ages and salary levels willing to share their frustrations: I’m overworked. I’m under appreciated. I’m disregarded. I’m disrespected.

All of us working for small companies often spend too much time worrying about what needs to be done to help us grow and not enough time just appreciating all the cool things that are possible due to our size. EXIT is a special place to work. And I’m proud to be a team member. I look forward to more fun and growth in 2010. But not too much growth!
